In order to enhance the reusability of your data, it is important that your data can be integrated with other datasets and are compatible with tools for their processing. Therefore, data and their metadata should use standardised terms to minimise the probability of their misinterpretation (e.g., MeSH in medical research, or ISO standards and others). The use of standardised vocabulary will also increase the potential for machine processing.

To find suitable metadata standards, you can use the FAIRsharing.org platform, the DCC list of metadata standards, or the Czech formal open standards. If you are using some standardised vocabulary for describing your data, you should include the information in the metadata (ideally via a persistent link to the respective ontology).

If possible, data should be stored using open formats, so that the reuse of data is not conditioned by ownership of commercial software.
