Cooperation

Association of Libraries of Czech Universities

The Association of Libraries of Czech Universities (ALCU) is an association bringing together the libraries of most public universities in the Czech Republic. The Centre is actively involved in its Open Science Working Group and its staff members have also been part of the group’s leadership since its re-establishment in 2022. The group focuses on advancing open science at both the institutional and national levels and regularly organizes the Open Science Week event. We also contributed to the development of the document Opportunities and Challenges of Open Science in the Czech Republic, which was produced within the working group.

Czech Data Steward Community

The Centre initiated the Czech Data Steward Community and continues to be actively involved in its activities. The community brings together professionals engaged in research data management and open science in the Czech Republic, providing a platform for sharing best practices and supporting one another in day-to-day work with research data. Within the community, we contributed, for example, to the preparation of the Beginner’s Guide for Data Stewards, and we help organise regular in-person community meetings.

EOSC Initiative in the Czech Republic

The Czech EOSC Initiative promotes good practices in research data management across scientific communities. As part of the Initiative, a National Data Infrastructure is being developed as a common platform for sharing, managing and accessing data and computing resources for research purposes. The Centre collaborates with the initiative and, within the National Repository Platform project, is particularly involved in training activities and methodological support for research groups interested in building repositories within this platform. We are also engaged in cross-cutting working groups operating under the initiative.

CZARMA

The Centre collaborates with the open science working group of the Czech Association of Research Managers and Administrators (CZARMA). CZARMA addresses open science primarily from the perspective of research project support and the requirements of research funders’ requirements.

Research data management working group (WG-RDM.cz)

As part of our collaboration with other Czech institutions engaged in research data management, we actively participated in the activities of the Working Group for Research Data Management (WG-RDM.cz). Its goal was to help create an environment aligned with the FAIR principles and compatible with the requirements of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The working group ceased its activities in 2021 and was replaced by the cross-cutting working groups established within the EOSC Initiative in the Czech Republic.

International Association of Universities (IAU)

The Centre participates in the Expert Group on Open Science of the International Association of Universities (IAU) which has long been dedicated to the promotion of open science in the context of the development and role of universities in modern societies around the world. A key output of the group is the comprehensive report Open Science: The Challenge for Universities, which serves as a practical guide to implementing open science best practices at different types of universities and provides an analysis of the challenges that may arise during implementation.
