We would like to inform you about the second grant call for the OSCARS project, an exciting initiative focused on supporting open science and research data management.
The project aims to simplify data access and connect research communities, bringing together the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) and other research infrastructures within five "scientific clusters":
Astrophysics, Cosmology, Particle and Nuclear Physics
Social Sciences and Humanities
Experimental Research Utilizing Photon/Neutron Sources
Biological Sciences
Earth and Environmental Sciences
Other fields as needed.
OSCARS grant calls target projects that:
Improve data accessibility and availability for both researchers and the broader public.
Develop new methods and tools for data management in alignment with FAIR principles – Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability of scientific data.
Foster multidisciplinary collaboration by linking different research domains.
Ensure long-term sustainability of scientific project outcomes.
Key information about the call:
Total Funding: Approximately EUR 16 million.
Individual Grants: EUR 100 000 to 250 000, provided as lump sum – simplified administration.
Target Groups: Scientific clusters (see above), broader community – research infrastructures, universities, institutes, consortiums, or individual researchers, and others.
Summary of the First Call (March 2024): 1st OSCARS Open Call Concluded: 58 Projects Selected.
Second Call: Expected to be announced in November 2024 and will remain open for 60 days.
Detailed Information: PDF document. It is anticipated that OSCARS will host an informational seminar for applicants in mid-November, as was the case for the first call.
Example projects: Open Science Projects
Why Participate?
This call offers an opportunity to secure funding for projects that contribute to better management and utilization of scientific data. Additionally, projects engaged in OSCARS will become part of the broader European network of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), which connects research communities and facilitates more efficient data and knowledge sharing.
