Have you noticed internet tracking during the scholarly communication?

Two researchers from the Faculty of Humanities of our university are cooperating with a small team of researchers and professionals from London, Cambridge, Munich, Budapest, Sofia and from CIIRC CVUT in Prague that is working on a study dedicated to understanding the role of internet tracking in the scholarly communication landscape. They are inviting scholars to describe their experience in this context because they believe that evidence-based study can support opening of a fair dialogue about appropriateness, necessity and practice of using trackers and other similar technologies in scholarly communication:

We think that it is about time to find out how much the readers, authors, and reviewers are tracked when they use websites and services related to scholarly communication and if this is really necessary. If so, what should be the limits and ethics of using tracking technologies particularly at a time when Open Science principles are gaining traction and popularity?

Let us invite you to participate in our study by responding to a short survey (approximately 15 min) placed here. Alternatively, if you are unable to help us at this time or you feel that a colleague would be better placed to do so, be so kind to forward this link to her or him. You are most welcome to give a narrative answer (in English or in Czech) as long or as short as you consider appropriate.

If you are able to participate in this study, your answers will be anonymized for the purpose of our resulting publication. The collected dataset itself will not be published, as it is a sample, only. If you have some additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us via e-mail.

In order to comply with the submission date, we would very much appreciate if your answer to the survey questions is sent to us no later than June 30th.
